Julie Redfern is a senior manager, advisor and strategy specialist with over 24 years of international experience with start-up, mature and commercial Microfinance Institutions around the world. At present, she is the owner/founder of Redfern Economic Consulting, supporting the growth of MFIs, particularly in Africa, since 2015. Formerly, Julie served as Vice President of Financial Services at MEDA where she led a team of 15 staff and associates in both North America and abroad, implementing long-term projects, training and technical advisory services.
Her career at MEDA spanned 17 years, from 1996 until 2013. Julie also served as a Trustee on the Women’s World Banking Board (New York) a Director on the Board of Sevis Finansye Fonkoze (Haiti), Vice-President of MiCredito’s Board of Directors (Nicaragua) and served on the board of Microvest, a private investment fund for MFIs based in Washington D.C. She holds a Masters in Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, two advanced certificates in credit union management and has advanced Spanish skills.
